THE KEY CONCEPT OF THE GENESIS III
IS
AUTOMATIC ARTISTIC EXPRESSION.
At last, there is a camera that automatically
creates pictures the way the photographer would view them.
With Chinon's revolutionary Automatic
Picture Composition System which recognizes 3255 different subject variations, the Genesis III
from Chinon is always ready to take prize winning photographs automatically.
After the type of picture effect is
selected, the suitable composing mode is inputted prior to pointing the
camera at the subject and pushing the shutter release. The
Genesis III then selects the optimum composing angle as well as the optimum exposure for that specific
situation and produces the brilliant image - automatically - that the photographer
would have had to do manually, using
several steps. in the past. The Genesis III can also be adjusted with separate controls for both manual
power zooming and the triple programmed AE just for those times when the
photographer wishes to override the phenomenal judgment of the Genesis
III. To capture an artistic image automatically in a world that changes
its expression and mood so rapidly sometimes requires thinking faster than
the capability of humans. It is destined to become the primary camera
choice for any level of photographic expertise. The Genesis III.

1. PORTRAIT/SPORT COMPOSING MODE + AUTO CLOSE-UP
When beautiful portray or action pictures
are desired. this auto composing mode should be called upon for a totally
different automatic zoom and exposure perspective. In this mode, the Genesis
111 will select an optimum lens focal length and exposure setting
emphasizing a greater telephoto magnification and wider aperture, plus
faster shutter speeds, to better frame the portrait image and to increase
the potential to freeze the motion for some exciting action sequences.
In this mode and when the subject is within 1 to 0.85 meter (33.5 to 39.4
inches) from the camera, the Auto Close-up mode will be activated.
|
|
|
2. STANDARD COMPOSING MODE
This mode is ideal for general picture
taking. When this mode is chosen, the lens focal length will be automatically
led so that the main subject or subjects will always be within the picture
area. Since the standard program AE will always accompany this composing
mode, it will maintain a fast enough shutter speed to avoid camera shake
while an adequate depth of field will also be implemented to assure razor
sharp pictures.
|
|
|
3. LANDSCAPE COMPOSING MODE
When the main subject is beautiful scenery. selection of this mode will direct the Genesis III to immediately institute a wider lens focal length and an automatic exposure setting that provides greater depth of field. This mode is also ideal for pictures of people in groups since the Genesis 111 will adjust the image size to include everyone in the gathering. |

|
(Webmaster: the first LCD screen shows the "Action" mode. Faster
shutter speeds will be chosen.
Second LCD show the "P" or Program mode. This balances
the shutter speed and aperture demands
Third LCD shows Landscape (person and mountains) or Creative
mode. The program allows for a smaller aperture
for more depth-of-field for close ups or group shots.
These 3 program are just like the Chinon CP-5/6 or X 35mm cameras)4.butkus.org

· For subjects positioned off-center, the Multi AF (patented in the USA ) is a winner. While an ordinary active AF or TTL passive AF would focus on the back ground, the Multi AF detects off-center subjects and focuses perfectly. |
![]() |
|
· For telephoto shooting or when the subject requires more focusing accuracy, such as close-up photography, the TTL Passive AF system has an advantage over the Active AF system. |
|
· In total darkness, the Active AF system is a clear winner over the TTL Passive AF system as the Active AF utilizes an infrared beam. Among the Active AF systems, the Multi AF is the best system because no matter where the subject is positioned, it will be detected by one of the triple infrared beams. |
|
|
· The TTL AF system works perfectly for subjects viewed through glass or windows while the active AF focuses on the glass or window surface rather than the subject beyond the glass.
|
|
|
· The Multi AF system is also superior for low contrast subjects, just as it performs flawlessly in total darkness. |
Conclusion:
Overall, the CHINON Dual Mode AF System
is the best AF system available from today, auto focusing technology
FUZZY LOGIC BASED AF SYSTEM. THE WORLD'S FIRST!!
CHINON'S new invention, the Dual Mode
AF system (patent pending), has been designed upon the concept of future
computer technology, the Fuzzy Logic. Even if the Auto Focusing System
could not detect the perfect auto focusing point, the micro computer calculates and
then assigns the optimum focusing point in a fraction of a second.

1) INFRARED MULTI AF SYSTEM
This truly unique Active AF System
was originally invented by Chinon for the Top Rated Auto 3001 Camera. This
foolproof system eliminates the need for a focus lock, even when the main
subject is off center. This system works perfectly with dark subjects or
low contrast subjects as it uses an infrared beam for both distance and
position detection. Although subjects shot through windows or located far
away from the camera where the infrared beam will not reach may not be
focused properly, the Genesis IlI's automatic ability to shift to the TTL
Passive AF System eliminates such a disadvantage without any input or lost
time what so ever on the part of the camera user.
2) TTL PASSIVE AF SYSTEM
This mode is ideal for telephoto pictures
that require increased focusing accuracy. Its major disadvantage is that
it requires the subject to have a certain amount of contrast or brightness,
or the focusing may not be correctly determined. With the Genesis III's
unique partnership with the Infrared Multi AF System, this disadvantage
of the TTL Passive AF System is eliminated by reverting to the multi auto
focus system.

The Genesis ill can shoot pictures with a speed of 1.5 FPS. Since the shutter can only be released upon completion of the focusing, H guarantees perfect focusing results for moving subjects. |
· SPOT AF System
|
![]() |
The Spot AF Mode switches the Genesis IlI's focusing area strictly to the central par of the picture frame. For pin-pointing a particular subject, this mode is ideal. When the Spot AF Mode is activated with the Sport/Portrait Image Program Mode. and the subject is positioned within the close-up range, the Genesis III switches itself to the Automatic Close-up Mode to provide a vivid close-up photograph. |
· Multiple Exposure
Mode
|
The highly professional Multiple Exposure Mode is also featured with the Genesis III. Press the Drive Mode Button to set the Multiple Exposure Mode and create unlimited exposures on one frame. The effect can be amazing and unusual.4.butkus.org |
