As you can see from the below images this is the TTL flash for the Ricoh models (XR-X, KR-30sp, XR-X3000 and XR-3pf) that have the Through The Lens flash ability. This allows the light meter to read what is being seen through the viewfinder and not any items too close or far away that would result in a wrong exposure. This can be used with other Ricoh cameras in Auto mode.  It seem to only have TTL,  1 auto F-stop setting and manual. The 240 and 300p offer more stops and bounce.
